Biography

B. Sc. in Pharmacy at Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG) - Brazil (1986), Ph.D. on Organic Chemistry at UFMG (1994). During the Ph.D. program took two years of fellowship at the Department of Chemistry in the University of Alberta (Edmonton – Canada). Post-Doctoral fellow at University of Liverpool in the field of biotransformation of organic compounds (1998) collaborating with Stanley M. Roberts and Andrew Carnell. Presently is working as Full Professor and research advisor of Master’s and Doctoral Programs at the Institute of Chemistry at Federal University of Mato Grosso do Sul (UFMS). Works mainly with the following: i) synthesis of potential cytotoxic phenolic compounds ii) synthesis of phenolic lipids and iiii) chemical transformations of bioactive natural products. Is associate editor of the new peer-reviewed Electronic Journal of Chemistry (Orbital) at UFMS. First prize during Green and Sustainable Chemistry Challenge 2017, Elsevier Foundation – Berlin (2017).
