Industrial biotechnology, which is often referred as white biotechnology utilizes microorganisms and enzymes. Waste generated from agriculture and forestry and renewable raw materials are used for the production of industrial goods. It also contributes to lowering of greenhouse gas emissions and moving away from a petrochemical based economy.
